Philadelphia Union will begin a two-game road trip with a midweek match against Toronto FC, starting at 7:30 p.m. on April 21 with coverage available on Apple TV.

The matchup comes shortly after the Union’s recent scoreless draw against D.C. United, offering the team an opportunity to improve their standing as they travel north. Philadelphia is currently tied for the fewest points in Major League Soccer this season, having secured four points so far, including their first clean sheet of the year in their last outing.

Toronto FC currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference following a six-match unbeaten streak, most recently extended by a dramatic 3-3 draw against Austin FC that featured an equalizing goal from Kobe Franklin in the closing minutes. Eight different players have scored for Toronto this season, but only Dániel Sallói and Richie Laryea have found the net more than once. Josh Sargent joined Toronto as a Designated Player from Norwich City earlier this year and has contributed one goal and one assist since his arrival.

Union centerback Japhet Sery Larsen said after Saturday’s match: “That’s really important. You secure one point, at least, if you keep a clean sheet, and we’ve been struggling with that during the season. So, I’m really pleased we managed to do that.” He added: “We have to build from here. We know how much quality we have within the squad, so we’ve got to show it. It’s up to us. It doesn’t come easy right now. We have to dig hard and dig deep to get the points. We’re quite lucky that there’s already a new game on Wednesday.”

Philadelphia Union features a roster of professional players on its main team according to the official website. The club achieved Major League Soccer’s Supporters’ Shield in 2020 for best regular-season performance according to its official site. The team’s facilities include Subaru Park—a soccer-specific stadium located on Chester’s waterfront—as well as training centers and practice fields according to official information.

As part of Major League Soccer, Philadelphia Union represents its city in elite competition while also fostering fan engagement and youth programs according to club sources. The club provides professional matches along with ticketing options and maintains an active lineup aimed at delivering competitive entertainment for supporters as stated by Philadelphia Union.

The upcoming week presents challenges due not only to strong opposition but also because it is among the busiest stretches of games this season; following Wednesday’s contest against Toronto FC, Philadelphia will play again Saturday versus Columbus Crew.
