With seven matches left in the 2025 regular season, Philadelphia Union will host Chicago Fire on Saturday night at Subaru Park. This match is one of only three remaining home games for the Union this year.
The team currently sits in second place in the Eastern Conference and third overall in the Supporter’s Shield standings. Their position slipped after a recent 1-0 loss to New York Red Bulls, marking their sixth defeat of the season.
Head Coach Bradley Carnell commented on his team’s response to the setback: “Alex Ferguson said it best, ‘in order to achieve and be number one, you have to train like number two.’ So, we had our biggest loads of the year these last two days, and credit to the boys for one showing a response from the loss and to just getting down to the grinding again, just getting onto the work,” Carnell said.
Saturday’s fixture will be Philadelphia’s second encounter with Chicago Fire this season. The Union previously won their June 25th away match through a penalty goal by Bruno Damiani. Chicago Fire are now ninth in their conference with 39 points and recently extended their unbeaten run to five matches after defeating St. Louis City 3-2.
Goalkeeper Andrew Rick is set for his 11th start as Andre Blake remains sidelined due to an injury sustained against Red Bull. Carnell confirmed during his press conference that Blake will miss several weeks.
Philadelphia aims to regain ground at the top of the standings while Chicago looks to maintain its playoff position. Fans can watch Saturday’s game via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
