Philadelphia Union has loaned goalkeeper Oliver Semmle to North Carolina FC, a club in the USL Championship, for the rest of the 2025 season. The move was announced by Philadelphia Union on August 18, 2025.

Semmle, a 27-year-old German player, joined Philadelphia Union on January 31, 2024. He made his debut for the club on February 24, 2024, in a match against Chicago Fire FC. Over his time with Philadelphia, Semmle appeared in 17 matches and started in 15 of them. During this period, he recorded 15 saves and achieved a save percentage of 64.6%. He also kept four clean sheets while playing for the team.

Before coming to Philadelphia Union, Semmle played for Louisville City FC. While there, he set a league record for most clean sheets earned by a rookie.

The transaction is effective through the remainder of the current season.
