Philadelphia Union II has signed goalkeeper Lou Liedtka to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract through 2025. Liedtka will join the team’s active roster immediately.
Union II Head Coach Ryan Richter commented on the signing, stating, “I’m very happy for Lou as he has worked hard for his opportunity and earned everything he’s achieved with Union II. He’s a great addition to the team and environment as we prepare for the end of the year and the postseason.”
Liedtka comes to Union II following a collegiate career at Vermont and Davidson. During his graduate season at Vermont in 2024, he played in eight matches, recorded three shutouts, was named America East Defensive Player of the Week twice, and posted a 4-1-3 record. His performance included a career-high eight saves against New Hampshire.
Before transferring to Vermont, Liedtka spent four seasons at Davidson College. In 2023, he started all 16 matches for Davidson, finishing with a 10-5-1 record and seven shutouts. His goals-against average that season was 0.98, ranking fifth-best in program history. He led the Atlantic-10 conference in both shutouts and save percentage (.773), contributing to Davidson’s national top-10 ranking in team goals-against average during much of that year. Over his time at Davidson, Liedtka accumulated 15 wins, 10 shutouts, and maintained a .773 save percentage.
Liedtka is originally from Wyncote, Pennsylvania.
The transaction marks Philadelphia Union II’s acquisition of Liedtka on an MLS NEXT Pro contract effective September XX, 2025.
