Philadelphia Union II announced on Mar. 15 the signing of midfielder Mamoutou Berthé to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, pending registration with U.S. Soccer. The 19-year-old from Bamako, Mali, will join the club’s active roster.
The addition of Berthé is part of Philadelphia Union II’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its squad and develop young talent for higher levels of competition. Philadelphia Union functions as a professional soccer team in Major League Soccer, focused on representing the city in elite competition while fostering fan involvement, youth programs and community ties, according to the official website.

Berthé previously played at Africa Foot academy before making 54 appearances for US Bougouba in Mali’s Première Division between 2023 and 2025. He has also represented Mali at both U20 and U23 international levels.
