Philadelphia Union will play their last home match of the regular season against New York City FC, with a significant achievement within reach. If the Union secure a win, they will clinch the 2025 Supporters’ Shield, which would be the second time in club history they earn this trophy at Subaru Park.

The match is scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and can be watched on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.

Inter Miami’s recent 5-3 loss to Chicago Fire has set up this scenario, making it possible for Philadelphia Union to secure the Supporters’ Shield with a victory, reaching a total of 66 points.

Under new Head Coach Bradley Carnell, who joined during the offseason, Philadelphia Union has achieved 19 wins, seven losses, and six draws so far this season. This performance has placed them at the top of Major League Soccer’s standings.

Their latest match resulted in a convincing 6-0 away win over D.C. United at Audi Field. The team had four different goal scorers and earned their 13th clean sheet of the year. Forward Milan Iloski commented on how important this momentum is as playoffs approach: “You want to go into playoffs playing well and getting a big win like that, where we have a lot of different goal scorers,” Iloski said after Tuesday’s training session.

“I think it’s something that’s really important for a lot of guys, to feel confident and to feel like we’re firing going into playoffs. We still have two regular season matches left and we’re still in the shield race, so I think it’s important now, going into a home match, that we feel good and that we’re really positive heading in.”

However, there are challenges ahead for the squad. In their previous game against D.C., Quinn Sullivan suffered an injury early in the match and later announced he had torn his ACL. He will not be able to play for the rest of the season. Additionally, head coach Carnell confirmed Jeremy Rafanello will also miss Saturday’s game due to injury.

Matches between Philadelphia Union and New York City FC have typically been competitive. With both postseason positioning and silverware at stake on Saturday night at Subaru Park, another closely contested match is expected.
