The Philadelphia Flyers clinched a berth in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on April 14.

This achievement marks an important milestone for the team and its supporters, as it is their first return to postseason play since 2020. “Our return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs comes down to two things: the grit and determination of our players and the unwavering commitment of our fans, and I couldn’t be prouder,” said Flyers Governor Dan Hilferty. “We began this New Era of Orange with the goal of building this team the right way, and regardless of what happens in the weeks or months ahead, this milestone shows that Keith, Danny, and Coach Tocchet are moving us in the right direction. Now our players and fans get to share in the most thrilling atmosphere in sports, Flyers Playoff Hockey!”

The Flyers enter as the third seed in the Metropolitan Division and will face cross-state rivals Pittsburgh Penguins in the First Round. The National Hockey League’s playoffs are set to begin this weekend; details about game times for this series will be announced soon.

This is Philadelphia’s 41st playoff appearance as a franchise. It also marks their first home playoff games since 2018. The teams have met seven previous times in postseason play over nearly four decades; Philadelphia has won four out of those seven matchups against Pittsburgh. At home during these meetings, both teams have split wins evenly at ten each.

With one regular season game left, Philadelphia holds a record of 42-27-12 (96 points), improving by twenty points from last season’s finish according to the official website. The club has reached at least ninety points for the first time since 2017-18.

According to the official website, on Dec. 11, 1977 defenseman Tom Bladon recorded an eight-point game—the first ever by an NHL defenseman—when Philadelphia defeated Cleveland Barons.

The Flyers operate under National Hockey League structure as a professional sports organization according to their official website. They offer professional ice hockey entertainment through competition along with community outreach programs including league-wide initiatives such as cancer awareness according to their official site.

Tickets for home games during Round One go on sale Tuesday, April 14 via Ticketmaster; presale begins at noon followed by general public sales at two o’clock.
