The Philadelphia Flyers will hold their first “Phish Night at the Flyers” on January 8 at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The event coincides with the team’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The evening will feature a pregame concert by Rift and offer fans a limited edition co-branded Phish-Flyers T-shirt. WMMR’s Casey Boy from the Preston & Steve show is set to host the pre-game concert.
According to Todd Glickman, Chief Revenue and Business Officer for the Flyers, “The Philadelphia Flyers and Phish both have tremendously loyal and passionate fan bases that have intersected over the past several decades with historic live shows at the arenas we’ve called home. From the Flyers faithful to the Phish fans, I cannot wait to see everyone come together under one roof at Xfinity Mobile Arena to ‘surrender to the flow’ on January 8.”
The relationship between Phish and the Flyers spans several decades. Before their first performance at the Spectrum in December 1995, members of Phish visited the team’s training center. During that concert, guitarist Trey Anastasio wore a Flyers #10 John LeClair jersey. Recordings from two of Phish’s performances at The Spectrum are featured on their album “The Spectrum ’97,” which documents their fall 1997 shows across 33 songs. The band also performed the National Anthem before two Flyers games in 1997 and 1999 at Xfinity Mobile Arena and later held concerts there during Thanksgiving weekend in 2009.
Fans who purchase tickets through a special package link will receive a commemorative T-shirt and access to Rift’s pregame performance. Part of ticket proceeds will go to support the Waterwheel Foundation.
