Penn women’s tennis opens season with strong showing at Tribe Invitational

The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team began its 2025-26 season at the Tribe Invitational hosted by William and Mary. The event took place over two days, starting Saturday morning and ending Sunday afternoon.

During the tournament, Penn competed against teams from William and Mary, Richmond, James Madison, the University of South Florida (USF), and Eastern Carolina. Lara Stojanovski and Sasha Motlagh secured a title in their doubles flight with a 3-0 record.

Freshmen Joleen Saw and Varsha Vedula each achieved their first collegiate singles and doubles victories. Saw finished with a 2-1 record in both singles and doubles matches. The duo of Vedula and Sarah Wang also went 2-1 in doubles play.

Stojanovski was selected for the All-American prequalifying Singles draw.

Penn is scheduled to compete next weekend at the University of Delaware Invite, which will take place from Friday to Sunday.
