Penn women’s tennis defeats Drexel 6-1 for third win of season

The University of Pennsylvania women’s tennis team secured its third win of the season by defeating Drexel University 6-1 in a match held on Saturday in Philadelphia. The Quakers faced an early setback, losing two out of three doubles matches to their local rivals.

Lara Stojanovski and Varsha Vedula were the only Penn duo to claim a doubles victory, overcoming Fourie and Snitko from Drexel with a score of 6-3.

In singles play, Penn swept all six matches. Esha Velaga won against Lorie Lemongo in the top singles spot with scores of 6-4, 6-2. Maya Urata, Lara Stojanovski, and Joleen Saw each secured straight-set victories in their respective matches. Liza Tkachenko and Varsha Vedula both dropped one set but ultimately prevailed in their contests.

The final results saw Penn taking five out of six singles matches without dropping more than one set except for Tkachenko and Vedula’s three-set wins.

The order of finish for doubles was court three followed by court two. In singles, courts four, two, and one finished first.
