The University of Pennsylvania women’s swimming and diving team achieved wins over Yale and Dartmouth on Saturday at Sheerr Pool in Philadelphia. The Quakers defeated Yale 192.50-107.50 and Dartmouth 231-69.
The meet was held as part of Senior Day, recognizing the contributions of seniors Amber Smith, Anna Boeckman, Anna Moehn, Emma Stolberg, Sadie Howard, Sophie Henriksen, and Sydney Bergstrom.
This victory marks Penn’s first win over Yale in 40 years. The team secured 12 first-place finishes during the meet. Katya Eruslanova led with top finishes in the 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley, and shared first place with Kate Levensten in the 200 backstroke. Levensten also won the 100 backstroke event.
Maggie Hu claimed victories in both the 100 and 200 butterfly events. Amy Qin won the sprint freestyle races (50 and 100), while Anna Moehn finished first in both distance freestyle events (500 and 1000).
In relay competition, Penn’s ‘A’ team placed second in the women’s 200 medley relay with a time of 1:39.95. In diving, Rachel Yang took first place on the one-meter board.
Other notable performances included Brianna Cong finishing second in the women’s 100 backstroke and third in the women’s 200 backstroke; Meredith Holcomb placing second in both breaststroke events; Sydney Bergstrom earning runner-up positions behind Moehn in both distance freestyle races; and Amber Smith contributing to relay teams as well as finishing fourth in the women’s 50 freestyle.
Penn concluded the meet by winning the women’s 400 freestyle relay with Connie Wang, Amber Smith, Brianna Cong, and Amy Qin posting a time of 3:22.34.
