The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against Lafayette in Easton, Pennsylvania, on Sunday. This result brings Penn’s record to 3-0-2 and Lafayette’s to 2-2-3.

Goalkeeper Megan Graves made her first career start for the Quakers after previously playing 75 minutes in relief this season. Sophomore forward Hailey Adamsky scored her first goal of the season, equalizing just before halftime after a deflected cross found her in front of the net.

Penn has not lost any of its first five matches this year, marking the program’s best unbeaten start since 2022. That year, the team began with one win and four draws through its opening five games.

The match opened with Lafayette taking an early lead in the sixth minute when junior midfielder Nadia Zaffenella scored following a sequence of corner kicks. Penn created several chances in response but was denied by Leopards goalkeeper Catherine Apker. At the 35th minute, Kylie Emanuel’s free kick was also saved.

Adamsky leveled the score late in the first half. In the second half, senior forward Anuli Okafor assisted Abbey Cook for Penn’s second goal at the 62nd minute. Lafayette responded quickly; Zaffenella crossed to junior forward Ava Murphy, who finished past Graves to tie it again at 2-2.

Both teams had opportunities during the final stretch but neither side broke through as defenses held firm.

With this result, Penn stands second in Ivy League standings with a .800 winning percentage and will return home for a four-match homestand that includes Ivy League contests against Princeton and Dartmouth. The next game is scheduled for September 11 against Saint Joseph’s at Rhodes Field.
