The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team is set to face Cornell University this Saturday at Rhodes Field, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. The match coincides with Alumni Weekend, during which Penn will honor the 2010 Ivy League Championship team.

The game marks another chapter in a longstanding rivalry between the two Ivy League programs. Historically, Penn has held an advantage over Cornell, leading the all-time series with a record of 22 wins, seven losses, and four draws. The Quakers also have a strong home record against the Big Red, standing at 12-3-2—making it their best home performance against any Ivy League opponent.

Reflecting on recent history, Penn defeated Cornell 1-0 in Ithaca in 2024. From 1997 to 2013, the Quakers maintained a 17-year unbeaten streak against Cornell that included ten shutout victories. Currently, Penn is on another undefeated run spanning nine matches with six wins and five clean sheets.

The Quakers’ offense has shown improvement recently after scoring only two goals across four games prior to last week. In their most recent matches against NJIT and Columbia, they scored a total of four goals. Freshman Kylie Emanuel and sophomore Eden Veenema contributed significantly during this period; both recorded one goal and one assist over those two games.

Several players have been consistent fixtures in the starting lineup this season. Abbey Cook, Taylor Ferraro, Clare Robke, and Eden Veenema are the only four who have started all twelve matches for Penn so far. Additionally, Robke and Veenema are notable for playing every minute in each Ivy League contest this year.

Senior goalkeeper Annabel Austen has made notable contributions as well by amassing eighteen saves over her last three appearances and twenty-six saves across her last five games. Her eight-save performance recently was a season high and just two short of her career best.

Fans can watch Saturday’s match via ESPN+, which offers coverage of all Penn volleyball home games as well as select road contests within the Ivy League.
