Penn enters the matchup with a season record of 4-0-2 and has not lost in its first six matches, marking its best start since 2022 when the team began the season unbeaten in seven games. In their last outing, Penn secured a win against Saint Joseph’s, holding their opponent to one goal from 12 shots and taking 13 shots themselves—marking the third time this season they have reached double-digit shot attempts.
Historically, Penn has struggled against Villanova, holding an all-time record of 3-11-3 in the series. Their most recent meeting was in 2024 when Penn lost 1-0 at Villanova’s Higgins Soccer Complex. The Quakers’ last victory over Villanova came in 2021 on Rhodes Field during a three-game winning streak against the Wildcats. Out of seventeen meetings between these teams, eleven have been decided by one goal or less.
Villanova arrives with a record of 4-3-0 and has won four out of its last five matches—all by shutout. Graduate student forward Hannah Curtin leads Villanova with three goals this season, while sophomore midfielder Amalia Cardo leads in points with two goals and three assists.
