The University of Pennsylvania women’s golf team placed fifth out of 13 teams at the Princeton Invitational, which took place over two days at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, New Jersey. The tournament concluded on Sunday with host Princeton securing first place by finishing 1-under-par 851. Rutgers came in second at 860, and Columbia finished third with a score of 866. Harvard was fourth with an 880, while Penn completed the event at 32-over-par 884. Dartmouth and Yale were among the Ivy League teams trailing behind Penn.
Freshman Mi Li led the individual standings going into the final round but finished tied for seventh after posting rounds of even-par 71 and a 3-under-par 68 on Saturday, followed by a 5-over-par 76 on Sunday for a total score of 2-over-par 215. Li tied for second in birdies with ten and was third overall in par-4 scoring at one under par.
Senior Julie Shin tied for seventeenth place after shooting a combined score of nine-over-par 222 and tying for sixth in pars made with thirty-eight across three rounds. Sophomore Claire Lu finished at thirteen-over-par (226), tying for thirty-fifth and achieving even par in par-3 scoring, which placed her third among all competitors.
Junior Maggie Ni shot an even par during Saturday’s opening round and ended the weekend at fourteen-over-par (227). Senior Bridget O’Keefe matched Penn’s lowest round on Sunday to finish twenty over par (233). Junior Madeleine Zang competed as an individual, carding fifteen over par (228) to tie for fortieth place.
A three-way tie determined the individual winner between Columbia’s Kristina Xu and Princeton’s Olivia Duan and Thanana Kotchasanmanee; each player finished two under par (211).
Penn will compete next at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware from October 18 to October 19 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
