The University of Pennsylvania’s men’s and women’s cross country teams took part in the Paul Short Run on Friday, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The women’s team secured eighth place out of 40 teams, improving their position by six spots compared to last year. The team finished with a total of 282 points.

Senior Lily Murphy led the women’s 6k gold race for the first two miles before finishing 10th overall with a personal-best time of 20:01.0. Lara Cota advanced 47 places in the final mile to finish 55th at 20:51.7. Gabby Jones was close behind in 56th place at 20:51.9, followed by Anna Weirich in 62nd at 20:56.5. Freshman Izzy Rodriguez completed the scoring for Penn with a 99th-place finish and a time of 21:17.1.

On the men’s side, Kofi Fordjour was the top finisher for Penn, completing the 8k course in 21:19.7 and placing 80th overall. George Keen finished in 129th place with a time of 24:27.0, while Shane Murphy came in at 24:47.7, Shamus Larnard at 24:29.1, and Liam Going at 24:53.6.

Both teams will compete next at the Princeton Fall Classic on October 17.
