Penn women’s cross country places third at Princeton Fall Classic

The University of Pennsylvania women’s cross country team secured third place at the Princeton Fall Classic, held in Princeton, New Jersey, on Friday. The Quakers accumulated 131 points, with three runners finishing in the top 25. Penn outperformed several Ivy League rivals, including Yale, Cornell, Columbia, and Dartmouth, as they prepare for the upcoming Ivy League Heptagonal Championships in two weeks.

Senior Lily Murphy led the team, finishing fifth overall in the 6k race with a time of 20:07.9. Anna Weirich finished 18th, achieving a personal-best time of 20:30.3, while Sarah Fischer also set a personal record with her 23rd-place finish at 20:41.4.

Gabrielle Jones and Quin Stovall improved their previous personal bests, with Jones placing 30th in 20:50.3 and Stovall finishing 55th in 21:12.2.

On the men’s side, Sahil Dodda was the top finisher for Penn, completing the 8k course in 24:07.0. Kofi Fordjour and Shane Murphy also set personal bests, finishing with times of 24:12.0 and 24:14.8, respectively. Liam Going and Nick Carpenter rounded out the scoring for the men’s team.

The Quakers will compete next at the Haverford Invitational on October 24.
