The University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s track and field teams are set to compete at the Spec Towns Invitational in Athens, Georgia on April 10 and 11.
The event is scheduled to take place at the UGA Track & Field Complex, with live results available online. Fans can watch the competition live on ESPN+ both Friday and Saturday.
In their previous outing at the Sam Howell Invitational, Nayyir Newash-Campbell broke the program record in the men’s 400 meters with a time of 45.89 seconds, which currently ranks him nineteenth nationally. Shane Gardner won first place in the men’s 110-meter hurdles with a meet-record time of 13.81 seconds, placing him twentieth in national rankings. Joseph Ruiz secured first place in the men’s 5000 meters with a time of 14:30.09.
On the women’s side, Jailyn Milord finished first in the women’s 100 meters with a time of 11.65 seconds, ranking fourth on Penn’s all-time performance list. Madison Knier won javelin with a personal-best mark of 47.60 meters (156 feet, two inches), which is also fourth best in program history.
Other notable national rankings include Ryan Matulonis holding second place nationally for the men’s 400-meter hurdles, Lily Murphy ranked twenty-second for women’s ten thousand meters, and Shane Gardner listed as twenty-fifth for men’s one hundred ten meter hurdles.
Following this weekend’s competition, Penn will participate in upcoming meets including the Tom Jones Invitational and Paul Donahue Invitational from April 17 to April 18 as well as Penn Relays from April 23 to April 25.
