The University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s squash teams are set to resume their seasons this weekend with matches against Trinity College and Yale University. Both Penn teams are currently undefeated.
The men’s team, ranked first in the College Squash Association (CSA) standings, will play second-ranked Trinity on Saturday in Hartford, Connecticut. This matchup is expected to be one of the toughest challenges for Penn so far this season. On Sunday, they will face fifth-ranked Yale in New Haven as Ivy League competition begins.
The women’s team, ranked second nationally, will also play Trinity—who are defending back-to-back national champions—on Saturday. They aim to end a nine-match losing streak against the Bantams. On Sunday, they meet eighth-ranked Yale.
Penn’s men’s team holds a 7-0 record after sweeping Western in their most recent match. Players Omar Hafez, Salman Khalil, and Alex Dartnell are all listed among the top ten in CSA individual rankings. The team leads the nation with 60 individual match wins this season; 13 out of 16 players remain undefeated.
The women’s squad is also unbeaten with seven victories, including wins over Georgetown, Stanford (#4), and Virginia (#6). Franka Vidovic, Allie Stoddard, Savannah Ingledew, Malak Taha, and Ashna Tumuluri rank among the top ten CSA players. The Quakers have remained undefeated in seven out of nine positions throughout the season.
Trinity’s men’s team has started its campaign with a 5-0 record and includes senior Benedek Takacs and freshman Segundo Portabales among its top performers. Their most recent win was an 8-1 result over Bowdoin College.
On the women’s side, Trinity has won five of six matches so far but recently lost to Stanford after an 18-match winning streak that dated back to January 2024. Kara Lincou and Doyce Lee both have perfect records this season.
Yale’s men’s team comes into Sunday’s contest with a 2-1 record after defeating Drexel and MIT but falling to Virginia earlier in the year. Senior Tad Carney has won all three matches at first position; sophomore Rohan Aryan Gondi is also undefeated for Yale this season.
For Yale’s women’s team—currently holding a 1-1 record—sophomore Heng Wai Wong split her opening two matches at first position following last year’s First Team All-Ivy selection. Sophomore Spring Ma did likewise at second position. Penn leads their recent head-to-head encounters after winning last year at home; previously Yale had taken seven straight meetings dating back to the 2017-18 season.
