Esha Velaga of the University of Pennsylvania lost her final back-draw singles match at the ITA All-American Championships on Thursday. The match, held in Cary, North Carolina, saw Velaga face Ohio State’s Nao Nishino.

Nishino took the first set with a score of 6-3. Velaga managed to even the contest by winning the second set 6-4. However, Nishino secured her advancement to the next round by taking the third set 6-1.

Velaga and her teammates are now turning their attention to the upcoming Cissie Leary Invitational. The tournament is scheduled from October 3 to October 5 and will be hosted by Penn at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers.
