The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team will play against Stanford University in the first round of the NCAA Championships on May 1. The match is scheduled for 11 a.m. in College Station, Texas.

This appearance marks Penn’s return to the NCAA tournament since their debut in the 2021-22 season, when they lost a close match to Virginia Commonwealth University by a score of 4-3 after initially leading by securing the doubles point.

Penn enters this year’s tournament ranked number 40 with an overall record of 18 wins and nine losses, including four wins and three losses in Ivy League play. The team finished its regular season with victories over Brown and Yale. In individual rankings, Manfredi Graziani and Aaron Sandler are ranked number 35 in doubles, while Vojtech Vales and Shaurya Bharadwaj are ranked number 83. Graziani also holds a singles ranking at number 50.

Stanford comes into the matchup as the number eighteen seed with a record of seventeen wins and eight losses overall, finishing nine and four within their conference, which tied them for third place. This will be Penn’s first meeting ever with Stanford.

Head Coach Rich Bonfiglio will make his fifth appearance at the NCAA tournament; he previously led Southern California (USC) to the event in 2022 and took San Diego three times between 2017 and 2019.
