The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team has named seniors Manfredi Graziani and Matthew Rutter as captains for the 2026 spring season. The announcement was made by head coach Rich Bonfiglio, who is entering his fourth year leading the Quakers.
“I couldn’t be more excited to announce Manfredi and Matt as captains,” said Bonfiglio. “They’ve been with Stratton and I since the beginning here. They’ve not only been big contributors on the court in singles and doubles for us in their careers, but they’ve been a big part of helping instill the culture we’ve built here in my time. They’re both great ambassadors of our program and Penn, and I can’t wait to compete this spring with them leading the way.”
Graziani enters his senior year following a strong start to the season. He became part of Penn’s first All-American doubles team and improved his singles performance significantly. Graziani began the year ranked #117 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s preseason rankings and now holds a career-best ranking at #41 after posting an 8-3 record during fall competition.
Rutter, also a senior, continues his fourth year at Penn with four wins already this fall, including reaching the semifinals at the Ivy Masters tournament. He aims to surpass his previous best from last spring when he recorded 12 wins.
