The University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team finished the first day of the Princeton Invitational in sixth place, according to an April 11 update. The tournament is being held at Springdale Golf Club on a par-71 course.
The event is important as it brings together Ivy League teams and other schools for a two-day, 54-hole competition. It provides an opportunity for teams to measure their performance against conference rivals ahead of postseason play.
Penn recorded a score of 291 in the morning round and 299 in the afternoon, totaling a 22-over-par 590 by day’s end. Harvard and host school Princeton are tied at the top with scores of 572 (+4). Dartmouth and Yale share seventh place at 591 (+23), while Columbia sits tenth with a score of 595 (+27) and Cornell is eleventh at 598 (+30).
Individually, Kayden Wang led Penn by shooting a three-under-par 68 in the morning followed by a two-over-par 73 in the afternoon. His combined score of one-under-par (141) puts him tied for second among seventy-five players, five shots behind leader Reed Greyserman from Princeton. Ryan Chang posted rounds of seventy-three and seventy-four to finish tied for twenty-fourth overall. Hayden Adams ended Saturday tied for thirty-fifth after carding rounds of seventy-four and seventy-five.
Other contributors included Arjun Caprihan, who scored both rounds to finish eleven over par (153), Wesley Hu (162, +20), and Owen Hayes (158, +16), who played as an individual entrant.
The final round will take place Sunday as Penn looks to improve its standing against strong Ivy League competition.
