Penn men’s golf finishes second at Columbia Spring Invitational

The University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team finished in second place at the Columbia Spring Invitational, held on March 30 at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania. Drexel overtook Penn late in the tournament to claim the team title in the 12-team, 36-hole event.

The competition saw Penn leading after the first round with a score of 295, three strokes ahead of Drexel. In the final round, Penn carded a score of 298 while Drexel posted a 292 to secure a three-shot victory. Manhattan College finished third, ten strokes behind Penn. Host Columbia tied for eighth place with a total score of 609.

Junior Hayden Adams led Penn by finishing third overall among seventy golfers with rounds of 71 and 74 for a total score of five-over-par (145). Adams also tied for second in par-3 scoring and was fourth overall with six birdies. The top two individual spots went to Drexel’s John Keba and Caleb Taylor.

Max Fonseca from Penn tied for fifth place with seven-over-par (147), while Wesley Hu finished tied for twenty-second at eleven-over-par (151). Both Fonseca and Hu were among four players who tied for second in par-4 scoring; Hu also recorded six birdies. Henry Chen shot one of Penn’s lowest rounds on Monday afternoon (73) and finished tied for thirty-fourth overall, matching the field’s second-highest number of pars at twenty-three. Kayden Wang contributed to the team’s morning session and ended his day at twenty-two-over-par (162).

Penn is scheduled to compete next week at Villanova’s Wildcat Spring Invitational, which will be held over two days at Galloway National Golf Club in New Jersey.
