The University of Pennsylvania football team is set to face Marist College for the first time in program history on Friday night at Franklin Field. The matchup serves as the final non-conference game for both teams this season, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
Penn enters the game with a 2-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark in Ivy League play after a 36-24 victory over Dartmouth, which was the team’s first conference game and saw Penn rally from an early deficit. Quarterback Liam O’Brien led the effort with four total touchdowns and was later named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week. Special teams standout Julien Stokes also received recognition as Special Teams Player of the Week and currently leads the nation in all-purpose yards per game.
Friday’s game will also be Community Night and Cancer Awareness Game, with complimentary tickets available for local groups and efforts underway to raise awareness for cancer.
Marist comes into the contest with a 3-2 record after defeating San Diego last weekend. The Red Foxes have alternated wins and losses so far this season and are led offensively by quarterback Sonny Mannino, who has contributed both through the air and on the ground.
Penn has enjoyed recent success in non-conference play, compiling a 17-4 record against non-Ivy opponents since 2017. This game marks their third non-conference matchup of 2025, and they have the opportunity to finish with a winning record in such games for the eighth consecutive season.
The Quakers have played well in night games historically, holding a 30-22 record overall and 20-14 at home, but are seeking their first home night win since November 2016.
Several Penn players have made significant contributions this season. Senior receiver Isaiah Richardson continues to move up the school’s all-time receiving lists, while John Lista returned from injury last week to lead the defense with 15 tackles. Freshman kicker Mason Walters is among national leaders in field goals per game.
Off the field, O’Brien has been named a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, recognizing his academic achievements and community involvement, including work with Uplifting Athletes and Penn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Council. Team captain Bergin has been nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team due to his community service, including fundraising efforts and involvement with Young Quakers.
Friday’s game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and on radio via the Quaker Audio Network.
