Stina Almqvist, a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, has signed her first professional basketball contract with GiroLive Panthers Osnabrück in Germany. The team competes in the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL), which is the top women’s basketball league in Germany and is coached by Sasa Cuic.

Almqvist completed a four-year collegiate career at Penn, where she made significant contributions to the program. In her senior season during 2024-25, she was recognized as a first-team All-Ivy and All-Big 5 selection after averaging 17.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game over 28 games.

Her achievements also include being named to the All-Tournament team during Ivy Madness and earning spots on both the Women’s College All-Star Game Watch List and as a finalist for World Exposure Report’s Mid-Major International Player of the Year award.

Originally from Kinna, Sweden, Almqvist became just the 26th player in Penn women’s basketball history to score more than 1,000 points. She finished her college career with totals of 1,110 points and 500 rebounds.

“The Panthers are a part of the premier women’s basketball league in Germany, Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (DBBL), coached by Sasa Cuic.”
