Among the notable picks, the Toronto Blue Jays chose JoJo Parker, a shortstop in the first round. “Parker draws raves for his smooth left-handed swing,” according to reports. The Orioles selected Slater de Brun in Round CB-A, known for his “outstanding left-handed swinging bat.”
The Tampa Bay Rays picked Brendan Summerhill, an outfielder from Arizona, while the Red Sox secured Kyson Witherspoon, a right-handed pitcher from Oklahoma. “The Red Sox planned on targeting pitchers but couldn’t have expected Witherspoon,” it was noted.
Dax Kilby was picked by the Yankees in the supplemental first round. Jace LaViolette was chosen by the Guardians as their first-round pick. The Royals opted for Josh Hammond using a pick acquired due to Bobby Witt Jr.’s MVP finish.
Other significant picks included River Hamilton by the Tigers and Matt Barr by the Twins. Talon Haley’s selection by the Angels stood out due to his resilience overcoming health challenges.
The Astros chose Ethan Frey in the third round, and Devin Taylor was picked by the A’s in the second round. The Mariners were pleased to get Kade Anderson as their first-round choice.
A.J. Russell went to the Rangers despite previous health issues affecting his draft position. The Braves found potential gold with Briggs McKenzie in the fourth round.
