Major League Baseball executives have identified the top prospects with standout skills in the latest MLB Pipeline Executives Poll. The poll, now in its third part, asked front office members to evaluate six specific tools: hitting, usable power, speed, fastball, secondary pitch, and overall pitchability.
Kevin McGonigle was recognized for having the best hit tool among prospects. Despite missing some time due to an ankle injury last year, McGonigle posted a .305/.408/.583 line while reaching Double-A and has a career .308 average with a .922 OPS. He further solidified his reputation by winning Arizona Fall League MVP honors after hitting .362/.500/.710.
JJ Wetherholt was also noted for his hitting ability. As the No. 7 overall pick of the 2024 Draft, Wetherholt hit .306/.421/.510 across two Minor League levels in his first full professional season.
Konnor Griffin received recognition for both his power and speed. He led voting for most usable power after keeping his strikeout rate at 21.7 percent and hitting 21 home runs with a .333 average last season. Griffin also tied Kendall George as fastest prospect; George led all Minor Leaguers with 100 steals in 111 games while Griffin stole 65 bases.
Payton Tolle’s fastball was voted best among pitching prospects. Tolle’s fastball averaged just under 96 mph and topped out at 101 mph across all levels last year, generating a high miss rate from opposing hitters.
Nolan McLean’s sweeper was selected as the best secondary pitch by executives. The pitch features elite spin and horizontal movement and proved difficult to hit in Triple-A play.
Kade Anderson was recognized for best pitchability—his command of multiple pitches helped him stand out during his time at LSU before being drafted third overall in 2025.
The Philadelphia Phillies are one of Major League Baseball’s oldest franchises and operate from Philadelphia as part of the National League official website. They play home games at Citizens Bank Park and offer fans events and merchandise official website. The club has won World Series titles in both 1980 and 2008 official website.
The next installment of the MLB Pipeline Executives Poll will focus on farm systems later this week.
