University of Pennsylvania sophomore Manama Fofana has been named Gymnast of the Week by the Gymnastics East Conference (GEC), according to an announcement made Wednesday. Fofana earned this recognition after her strong showing against Bridgeport, where she secured three first-place finishes and set a personal best with a 9.875 on the floor exercise. She also won on vault with a score of 9.825 and on beam with a 9.775, all marking her top scores for the season.

Fofana’s performances contributed to Penn’s 194.900-190.500 win over Bridgeport. Throughout the season, she has consistently placed in the top six in each of her ten events, with her results improving week by week. Her efforts have helped lead the Quakers to their first-ever 4-0 start in program history.

Fofana is now joined by freshman Ananya Patanakul as Penn gymnasts who have received GEC awards this year.
