Intermediate Care Unit nurse Lovejoy Paltu-Ob, RN, was honored with the Service Excellence Employee of the Month Award at TUH-Main Campus, according to a March 12 announcement. Paltu-Ob was recognized for her commitment to Temple Health’s values and her role as both a mentor and leader within the hospital.

The award highlights the importance of recognizing healthcare professionals who demonstrate exceptional care and leadership in their daily work. Honoring employees like Paltu-Ob can encourage a culture of excellence and support among staff members.

According to an excerpt from her nomination, “Lovejoy Paltu-Ob exemplifies the highest standards of nursing excellence, leadership, and patient advocacy in her role as Charge Nurse on the IMCU. She consistently serves as the first ‘go-to’ resource for team members, providing calm, knowledgeable guidance in complex clinical and operational situations. Staff rely on her clinical judgment, situational awareness, and ability to coordinate care efficiently during high-acuity and high-volume shifts.”

The nomination further states that “At the bedside, Lovejoy delivers exceptional, compassionate care that patients and families frequently recognize and praise. She demonstrates a remarkable ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and ensure patients feel heard and respected during vulnerable moments. Her presence reassures patients while reinforcing a culture of dignity, safety, and therapeutic engagement.” The statement also notes that “Lovejoy is the ultimate patient advocate,” emphasizing her efforts to ensure care plans reflect patient needs while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.

Paltu-Ob’s dedication extends beyond patient care; she is described as mentoring newer nurses and modeling professionalism in every interaction. The nomination concludes by stating that “Her impact is felt daily by patients, families, and staff alike, and she represents the very best of nursing practice and compassionate leadership.”
