University of Pennsylvania sophomore guard AJ Levine has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week in men’s basketball, marking him as the fifth Penn player to receive a weekly honor from either the Ivy League or Philadelphia Big 5 this season.
Levine received the recognition after scoring 19 points during Penn’s 80-61 victory over NJIT last Wednesday. This performance surpassed his previous career high by six points. Fourteen of those points came in the second half, including eight consecutive points that contributed to a decisive 17-0 run, breaking a tie and securing the win for Penn. Levine shot 7-for-9 from the field and made four three-pointers, both personal bests. He also recorded seven steals—the most by a Penn player since Ibrahim Jaaber matched that number against Navy on December 7, 2006—along with five rebounds and four assists.
Penn (7-6) is set to begin Ivy League play tonight against Princeton at Jadwin Gym, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+, regionally on NBC Sports Philadelphia, and in New York City on SNY. The team will return home Saturday to host Brown at 2 p.m.
