Third-year cornerback Kelee Ringo filled in for Adoree’ Jackson, who left Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers with a groin injury. Ringo, selected by the Philadelphia Eagles as the 105th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, was targeted four times and allowed only one catch for eight yards, according to Pro Football Focus.

Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio commented on Ringo’s performance and addressed his potential role moving forward. “I thought he did good,” Fangio said. “I mean, he can be better, the true test for him will be to see how he improves, but overall, [he] did good. … He was pretty sticky in man coverage. I’d like to see his tackling improve. One thing a guy has to learn that has played predominantly special teams is tackling on defense is a lot different than tackling in special teams. But I’m confident he can improve that.”

Fangio also noted that it is possible Ringo could continue as the starter even when Jackson returns from injury.

Ringo’s transition from special teams to defensive play highlights the differences in responsibilities between the two roles, especially regarding tackling technique and positioning.
