The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team competed at the 2026 Ivy League Wrestling Championships on March 8, with junior Jude Swisher winning the individual crown at 157 pounds and being named Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. The event was hosted by Columbia University inside Levien Gymnasium in New York.
Swisher secured Penn’s only individual title by defeating top-seeded Meyer Shapiro from Cornell with an 8-3 decision. His victory contributed to Penn’s third-place finish as a team, earning a total of 116.5 points. Nine other Quakers also reached the podium in their respective weight classes.
Swisher became the fourth Penn wrestler to win an Ivy League Championships title. Other notable performances included Davis Motyka (125), Evan Mougalian (133), CJ Composto (141), and Cross Wasilewski (149) who all finished as runners-up in their divisions. Sean Seefeldt (165), Liam Carlin (184), and Martin Cosgrove (197) each placed third, while John Pardo (285) took fourth place and Caden Bellis won fifth place at 174 pounds.
Several Quaker wrestlers qualified for the upcoming NCAA Championships: freshman Motyka, junior Mougalian, senior Composto, sophomore Wasilewski, junior Swisher, and junior Seefeldt will compete at Rocket Arena in Cleveland starting March 19. Notably, Composto, Wasilewski, and Swisher have now reached the finals in their weight classes for two consecutive years.
The team will next prepare for the NCAA Wrestling Championships scheduled for March 19-21 in Cleveland.
