Jordan Davis has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week following his decisive play against the Los Angeles Rams. With just three seconds left in the game and the Eagles holding a one-point lead, Davis blocked Joshua Karty’s 44-yard field goal attempt at the line of scrimmage. He then recovered the ball and returned it 61 yards for a touchdown.
The play took place at Lincoln Financial Field and helped Philadelphia overcome a 19-point deficit to maintain their undefeated record this season. This marks Davis’ fourth year in the NFL, which has so far been his most productive.
Head Coach Nick Sirianni commented on Davis’ progress: “I think it’s just a good example of a guy continuing to work, continuing to get better because he should be playing better football now than he was when he first entered the NFL,” Sirianni said. “He’s put a lot of work into it and played in a lot of meaningful games and went against really good players in practice.”
Davis is the first Eagles player to receive Special Teams Player of the Week honors since Jake Elliott did so in Week 12 of 2023. He is also the first defensive player from Philadelphia to win this award since Zech McPhearson in Week 1 of 2022.
Additionally, Davis was recognized with the NFL Way to Play Award for Week 3. As part of this honor, The NFL Foundation will provide a $5,000 equipment grant through USA Football to support a youth or high school football program selected by Davis.
