On Sunday, several top Minor League Baseball prospects delivered notable performances. Among them was Jean Cabrera, a right-handed pitcher for Double-A Reading and the Philadelphia Phillies’ No. 8 prospect. Cabrera threw six no-hit innings, facing just one batter over the minimum. He needed only 59 pitches to complete his outing, striking out five and walking one. This performance lowered his season ERA to 3.73 across 21 starts.
Other standout performances included Charlie Condon of Hartford (Colorado Rockies), who recorded three hits and reached base four times in his game, raising his batting average to .414 over the past week. Samuel Basallo of Norfolk (Baltimore Orioles) drove in four runs and continues to lead the International League with a .996 OPS and ranks second with 23 home runs.
Carson Williams of Durham (Tampa Bay Rays) hit his 20th home run of the season, joining the 20/20 club for the third straight year, while also recording two hits in his game. Jonah Tong of Binghamton (New York Mets) struck out eight over five innings in his final Double-A start before promotion, bringing his season total to a Minor League-leading 162 strikeouts.
Spencer Jones of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (New York Yankees) hit his MiLB-leading 30th home run off Phillies top prospect Andrew Painter. Jones has also stolen 25 bases this season and is hitting .320/.400/.704 since arriving at Triple-A.
Ralphy Velazquez of Lake County (Cleveland Guardians) hit two solo home runs to take sole possession of the Midwest League home run lead with 17 on the year.
Alex Clemmey of Wilmington (Washington Nationals) pitched six no-hit innings at High-A, striking out eight batters and lowering his ERA to 2.47 through 19 starts.
“Jean Cabrera needed only 59 pitches to complete six frames, throwing 40 for strikes, punching out five and issuing only one free pass,” according to Minor League Baseball reports.
The day’s games highlighted several prospects making significant progress toward Major League opportunities as they continue their development throughout the season.
