Before their upcoming game against the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts addressed the end of his 18-game winning streak as a starter. The streak was snapped after the Eagles’ loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday, marking Hurts’ first defeat in over a year.

“Thank God it’s a short week,” Hurts said. “Tough week in my house.”

Hurts emphasized that his main concern is returning to the win column, not individual statistics. He described his approach during games as singularly focused on execution. “I’m not thinking about [stats] during the game. I’m not thinking of how many times I’ve thrown the ball, how many times I’ve ran the ball, if I’ve had zero completions in a half or number of yards we’ve thrown for in a half,” Hurts said. “You don’t catch a feel for those things. … It’s a matter of having a very, very fine focus on each play and trying to execute that.”

On Sunday, Hurts demonstrated his competitive drive by sprinting toward the end zone during a Hail Mary attempt, hoping for any chance to make a play. “You never know,” he said. “I hate to lose.”

The Eagles will face Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart on Thursday night. Dart, the 26th overall pick in the draft, is preparing for his third NFL start. He led the Giants to victory in his debut but struggled in his second game against the Saints with three turnovers.

Eagles Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio commented on Dart’s performance so far: “I like him. Another mobile quarterback,” Fangio said. “I think he’s got that air about him to be a quarterback. I think he’s confident in his abilities and in their offense. Got the gun run game to contend with. They’ll run quarterback draws, quarterback designed runs. He’s good. I think they got themselves a quarterback.”

The Eagles are looking to rebound quickly as they prepare for Thursday’s matchup.
