Howie Roseman, executive vice president and general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles, described on April 15 how he is preparing for the upcoming 2026 National Football League Draft. The team’s draft strategy is being finalized during a busy period that includes meetings with coaches, scouts, and contacts across college football and the league.

The draft is a significant event for both the Eagles and their national fan base. The team’s decisions during this time can shape its roster for years to come. As a professional American football team in the NFL, the Eagles draw fans from Philadelphia and across the country through games, media coverage, and merchandise sales according to the official website.

Roseman said his approach involves talking to as many people as possible in both college football and within NFL teams to gather information about potential scenarios. “Moreso than anything, going over our Day 3 guys (possible draft picks in Rounds 4-7) and our free agent list to make sure those guys are in the right spot waiting to be picked or to be signed when appropriate,” Roseman said.

He explained that his day starts early with a workout at Jefferson Health Training Complex before moving into meetings that last throughout the day. Despite long hours during this critical offseason period, he tries to have dinner with his family when possible. “The key,” he said, “is to stay fresh and ready for three days of the NFL Draft and the intensity of that.” The Eagles have eight selections this year starting with pick number 23 in Round 1 on April 23.

The process leading up to draft weekend has been ongoing for eleven months. “We have our scouts in from all over the country and it’s like a family reunion,” Roseman said. He praised their hard work gathering information needed for successful drafting efforts: “They work hard and they do a great job gathering information and helping us do our best job in the Draft.”

Founded in Philadelphia in 1933 according to their official website, the Eagles provide professional football games along with news updates, ticketing services, media content, and opportunities for fan engagement. Their reach extends beyond Pennsylvania through these offerings according to their official website.

Roseman reflected on what drives him during this hectic time: “I love it. We all put in the work for the reason of building the best team we can put together,” he said.
