Philadelphia Eagles General Manager and Executive Vice President Howie Roseman discussed on Mar. 29 several of the team’s recent free agency signings, offering insight into how each player could contribute to the upcoming season.
The announcement comes as the Eagles look to strengthen their roster ahead of next season, aiming to build on their history as a professional American football team in the National Football League, according to the official website. The team has maintained its base in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania since entering the NFL in 1933.
Roseman spoke about signing cornerback Riq Woolen, saying: “One look at Riq and you can see what kind of physical tools he has in his body. Obviously, unusual size and speed, and he has had success in the NFL. And he has had moments where you can see that he could use some improvement. When you have an opportunity to bring in somebody who has a unique physical skill set, who has shown he can compete at the highest levels, it’s just a great opportunity for us to get our coaching staff, to get our performance staff, get our people around someone to help him get back to the level at which we’ve seen him play.”
Regarding outside linebacker Arnold Ebiketie joining from Atlanta after two seasons with six quarterback sacks each year, Roseman said: “He’s a guy that we had done a lot of work on during that 2022 NFL Draft… What he does can fit in what we try to do in our defense. We’re adding an edge rusher who has had production… He’s a high-character guy and is still young and he has room to grow to reach his ceiling.”
On wide receivers Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore entering an already competitive group alongside DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown among others, Roseman said: “You can’t talk about Hollywood without talking about speed… With Hollywood, teams are going to have to respect that vertical ability… One of Jalen Hurts’ strengths is throwing the deep ball so we’re excited… Elijah is a guy we liked coming into the NFL… we’re going give him an opportunity.”
Discussing veteran quarterback Andy Dalton’s addition for depth behind Jalen Hurts and Tanner McKee—continuing their three-quarterback philosophy—Roseman said: “We always like to have three quarterbacks… You can never have enough depth at that position. Obviously Andy has had a lot of success in the NFL. He will be a great addition.” Tight end Johnny Mundt was described as helping with run game schemes while running back Dameon Pierce was noted for his physicality.
The Eagles extend their reach beyond Philadelphia through games broadcast nationally along with media coverage and merchandising efforts according to their official website (https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/). The franchise provides not only professional football games but also news updates, ticketing services, fan engagement opportunities online as reported by its official site.
Looking forward, these acquisitions reflect ongoing efforts by management as they prepare for another competitive season while maintaining broad cultural influence among fans locally and nationwide.
