A young Philadelphia Phillies fan attended Friday’s game against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot park and became part of an unexpected moment in the stands. During the top of the fourth inning, Harrison Bader hit a home run that landed in the left-field seats, sparking a scramble among spectators for the ball.
The man who initially secured the ball handed it to the young Phillies fan. However, after a brief dispute with another attendee over who should keep it, the boy gave up possession of the ball. The incident was widely shared online.
In response to what happened, both teams and Bader made efforts to ensure the boy had a positive experience. Shortly after the exchange in the stands, a Marlins staff member provided him with a bag of team merchandise. Following the game, Bader met with him outside the Phillies’ clubhouse.
Shortly after the dispute over the ball, a Marlins staffer was seen giving the boy a bag of goodies. Then, after the game, Bader gave the boy an autographed bat outside the Phillies’ clubhouse and spent a few moments chatting with him.
