The Philadelphia Phillies have recently seen an increase in energy within the team, highlighted by several key players. Among them is new closer Jhoan Duran, whose entrance at Citizens Bank Park has become a notable event for fans. Garrett Stubbs, a popular figure in the clubhouse, was also called up when rosters expanded.

Harrison Bader, the Phillies’ latest addition to the outfield, has quickly become a favorite among both teammates and fans. His performance on the field includes strong defensive plays and timely hits. Outfielder Brandon Marsh commented on Bader’s contributions: “I could say a lot of things,” said Marsh. “Energy. A heck of an at-bat every single time. Gold Glove defense. Good teammate on and off the field.”

Teammate Taijuan Walker added: “He knows how to win. His character. His excitement.” Manager Rob Thomson expressed his support as well: “I love him. I love him,” Thomson repeated. ” … He’s a very confident person, but he’s a good person — it’s not phony or fake or anything like that.”

Bader’s statistics reflect his impact since joining the team; through his first 27 games as a Phillie, he is hitting .310 with an .855 OPS and has recorded four three-hit games since August 23—more than any other player in Major League Baseball during that period.

Marsh said of Bader’s influence: “He’s been huge for this club,” Marsh said. “And he’s going to continue to be big for us.”

Adjusting to a new team can be challenging, especially during a postseason run, but Bader explained his approach: “There’s a lot of variables involved with getting traded to a club, so I think you just think about what you have to do every day to help that team win,” Bader said. “It eliminates all the things that might be distracting. Just go out there and good things happen when you’re focused on the plan.

“So, I’m just running with that feeling and trying to put up for my new club.”

Despite starting slowly—hitting .171 in his first 14 games—Bader maintained focus on preparation and attitude: “I’m human,” Bader said, “but I definitely try to wake up every day regardless of whatever happened the day before and understand the game will have whatever it might have in store for me, so I just have to embrace it and prepare and go out there and just put my best foot forward.”

Recently, Bader has developed chemistry with Marsh on the field; they combined for back-to-back hits three times in Monday’s 10-8 victory over Milwaukee, contributing significantly during crucial rallies.

Bader highlighted the importance of consistent energy: “I think the energy aspect is really important,” Bader said. “Just bring it every day, regardless of where you’re at, because stuff’s going to get hairy down the line. So, just being really good at training yourself to be high energy and high support for your teammates every single day is a good practice.”

Shortstop Trea Turner earlier noted how valuable such players are: “You need those energy guys,” Turner said earlier this year. “Championship teams need all different types of players, so guys who can kind of just be the same every day and bring that energy — guys like that are super important.”

With both Marsh and Bader filling these roles this season, their presence may play an important part as Philadelphia pursues its postseason goals.
