Sophomore Gigi Ganje was named Ivy League Player of the Week, according to a March 9 announcement from the league. The recognition follows her standout performance at the Catamount Classic, where she led the Penn Quakers softball team with strong offensive numbers.
The award highlights Ganje’s impact on her team and her position as one of the top players in collegiate softball this season. Her achievements at the tournament underscore her importance to the Quakers as they approach a series of home games.
During the Catamount Classic, Ganje went 9-for-18 at bat, recording a .500 batting average. She collected nine hits, three doubles, four home runs, drew three walks, and stole three bases over the weekend. Her slugging percentage for those games reached 1.333.
For the season so far, Ganje has posted a .451 batting average, a .500 on-base percentage, and a 1.068 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.598. Nationally, she ranks fourth in home runs per game (0.6) and tenth in slugging percentage (1.068).
Ganje currently leads Penn in all major offensive categories and is expected to continue as a key player for the lineup as they begin an extended stretch of home games starting against North Dakota on March 11.
