Each year, MLB Pipeline releases its Top 100 prospect ranking, prompting questions about which players narrowly missed the list. In response, MLB Pipeline has identified one standout prospect from each Major League Baseball organization who was just outside the latest Top 100.
For the Philadelphia Phillies, Gage Wood is highlighted as a promising right-handed pitcher. Wood gained attention with a 19-strikeout no-hitter in the College World Series for Arkansas before being selected by the Phillies in the first round of the 2025 Draft. His performance is credited largely to his fastball, which reaches up to 98 mph and displays significant carry, as well as his power curveball. Although his slider and changeup are less effective at this stage, Wood could progress quickly through the Phillies’ system if he can demonstrate long-term potential as a starter.
Other notable prospects mentioned include Johnny King (Blue Jays), Trey Gibson (Orioles), Jacob Melton (Rays), Juan Valera (Red Sox), Spencer Jones (Yankees), Braylon Doughty (Guardians), Kendry Chourio (Royals), Hao-Yu Lee (Tigers), Kendry Rojas (Twins), Tanner McDougal (White Sox), Ryan Johnson (Angels), Brice Matthews (Astros), Wei-En Lin (A’s), Felnin Celesten (Mariners), Caden Scarborough (Rangers), Didier Fuentes (Braves), Kevin Defrank (Marlins), Ryan Clifford (Mets), Gavin Fien (Nationals), Andrew Fischer (Brewers), Quinn Mathews (Cardinals), Ethan Conrad (Cubs), Jhostynxon Garcia (Pirates), Tyson Lewis (Reds), Kayson Cunningham (D-backs), River Ryan (Dodgers), Luis Hernandez (Giants), Ethan Salas (Padres) and Jared Thomas (Rockies).
These players represent emerging talent that could feature in future editions of the Top 100 prospects list as they continue their development within their respective organizations.
