The Philadelphia Flyers will play their 20th game of the 2025-26 NHL season at home against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday. The Flyers, coached by Rick Tocchet, have a record of 10-6-3 and are 7-3-2 at home. Their opponents, led by Sheldon Keefe, have a 13-6-1 record and are even at 6-6-0 on the road.
The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST at Xfinity Mobile Arena and will be broadcast on NBCSP.
The Flyers come into this matchup after securing a 3-2 overtime win against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday. In that game, Rodrigo Abols scored his first goal of the season and Tyson Foerster added his fifth. Travis Sanheim scored the winning goal in overtime. Goaltender Dan Vladar made key saves during the last part of the game.
Abols had one of his strongest performances of the season, contributing not only with his goal but also by generating scoring chances and providing effective forechecking on the fourth line.
Trevor Zegras leads the Flyers in points with six goals and fourteen assists through nineteen games. On Thursday, he played a significant role in starting Abols’ goal sequence and came close to scoring twice during power plays.
During Thursday’s game, an adjustment was made to the defense pairings. Emil Andrae was moved up to play alongside Jamie Drysdale beginning in the second period. Coach Tocchet said after Friday’s practice that he wants to continue evaluating this pairing because Drysdale’s mobility combined with Andrae’s passing could benefit the team against New Jersey.
Recently, defensive coverage has been an issue for Philadelphia, especially during penalty kills where breakdowns have resulted in power play goals for opposing teams like Dallas’ Jason Robertson and St Louis’ Justin Faulk.
The Devils will be without Jack Hughes due to hand surgery performed on November 15; he is expected to miss eight weeks from surgery date. Luke Hughes leads New Jersey’s defensemen with eleven points so far this season. Dawson Mercer leads their forwards with nine goals while Jesper Bratt has contributed thirteen assists among eighteen total points. Dougie Hamilton has also added four goals from defense for New Jersey.
