The Philadelphia Flyers secured a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena. The win brings the Flyers’ season record to 16-9-3 and marks their second win in four games during their current homestand.

Philadelphia dominated play early, outshooting San Jose 16-3 in the first period. Despite this, the Sharks scored first with Collin Graf’s sixth goal of the season. Christian Dvorak responded late in the period for Philadelphia, tying the game at 1-1 with his seventh goal. The assists went to Trevor Zegras and Travis Konecny. For Konecny, it was his 500th NHL point.

Carl Grundstrom gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead early in the second period by deflecting a Nick Seeler shot into the net for his first goal as a Flyer. Assists were credited to Seeler and Travis Sanheim. Late in the second, Noah Cates increased Philadelphia’s lead to two goals with his seventh of the season, assisted by Bobby Brink and Jamie Drysdale.

In the third period, Travis Konecny sealed the win with an empty-net goal at 18:17, assisted by Dvorak.

Goaltender Dan Vladar made 17 saves on 18 shots for Philadelphia, while Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 26 of 29 shots for San Jose. The Flyers went scoreless on two power play opportunities but successfully killed both penalties they faced.

Rookie defenseman Ty Murchison made his NHL debut for Philadelphia, recording three hits and blocking one shot over more than fourteen minutes of ice time. He also contributed sixty seconds on penalty kill duty alongside veteran partner Noah Juulsen.

“Vladar wasn’t tested often in the game, but had to come up big several times in key spots. A goal in any of those situations might have changed the complexion of the game.”

Neither Matvei Michkov nor Macklin Celebrini recorded points during this matchup; Michkov returned after missing part of the second period and finished with just over twelve minutes played.

The Flyers’ next contest will conclude their four-game homestand as they look to build on this performance.
