The Philadelphia Flyers have acquired forward Philip Tomasino from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Egor Zamula, as announced by General Manager Daniel Briere. Tomasino will join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Flyers’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate.

Tomasino, age 24, was selected by the Nashville Predators in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft. Since then, he has played both in the NHL and AHL, appearing in 218 career NHL games with Nashville and Pittsburgh. Over his NHL career so far, Tomasino has recorded 95 points with 34 goals and 61 assists.

During the current season with Pittsburgh, Tomasino scored 23 points and ranked second on his team for game-winning goals with six, behind only Sidney Crosby. This season he has appeared in nine NHL games and added one assist. In addition to his time in the NHL this year, he registered 15 points in 14 AHL games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and led that club in plus/minus at +12.

Egor Zamula moves to Pittsburgh as part of this trade. He joined Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent in September 2018 and spent parts of six seasons with the organization. Zamula recorded a total of 41 points across 168 NHL games during his time with the Flyers.

The Flyers are scheduled to play against the Calgary Flames tonight at Scotiabank Saddledome at 7:30 p.m. MT / 9:30 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on NBCSP and available on radio via 97.5 The Fanatic.

The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team competing in the National Hockey League since their founding during league expansion in 1967. They play home games at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and have achieved notable successes including two Stanley Cup wins (official website).
