During an inspection on March 20, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued six citations to Valdez Foods, Inc., located in Philadelphia, for issues concerning foodborne biological hazards, according to data posted on the FDA’s website.
The FDA website indicates that the citations were delivered to the company as follows:
- ‘You did not take a reasonable measure or precaution related to personnel practices.’
- ‘You did not have a written food safety plan.’
- ‘You did not implement the procedures listed in your HACCP plan.’
- ‘Your HACCP plan includes a corrective action plan that is not in accordance with 21 CFR 123.7(b) to ensure affected product is not entered into commerce and the cause of the deviation was corrected.’
- ‘Your process monitoring equipment is not calibrated to ensure that it reads accurately.’
- ‘Your monitoring, corrective action and verification records are not maintained at your facility for at least the required time period.’
The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.
According to its website, the FDA is a government agency that is primarily responsible for monitoring the production and distribution of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical supplies and tobacco products for safety and quality.
