During an inspection on December 20, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration issued three citations to Luen Fong Food & Produce, Inc. in Philadelphia for violations concerning foodborne biological hazards, according to data posted on the FDA’s website.

The FDA website indicates that the citations were delivered to the company as follows:

  • ‘You did not exclude pests from your food plant to protect against contamination of food.’
  • ‘You did not implement a sanitation preventive control.’
  • ‘You are not maintaining sanitation control records that document monitoring and corrections of sanitation deficiencies for safety of water that comes into contact with food or food contact surfaces, including water used to manufacture ice, condition and cleanliness of food contact surfaces, prevention of cross-contamination from insanitary objects, maintenance of hand washing, hand sanitizing, and toilet facilities, protection of food, food packaging material, and food contact surfaces from adulteration, proper labeling, storage and use of toxic chemicals and control of employee health conditions.’

The FDA routinely inspects facilities across the nation to determine if the workplace and their products are compliant with FDA-regulated laws and regulations implemented to improve overall public health. Inspection results are then disclosed publicly.

According to its website, the FDA is a government agency that is primarily responsible for monitoring the production and distribution of human and animal drugs, biological products, medical supplies and tobacco products for safety and quality.
