The Philadelphia Eagles resumed training camp on Sunday after a scheduled day off, with several players standing out during team drills. Cornerback Eli Ricks drew attention by breaking up three passes, including two in the end zone during a two-minute drill against the second-team offense. Ricks, now entering his third year, has been noted for making significant plays throughout the past week.

Running back Saquon Barkley continued his vocal presence on the field, exchanging words with the defense following his first carry of practice. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith returned from a back injury and made an impact by connecting with quarterback Jalen Hurts for a 20-yard gain over the middle.

Tight end Kylen Granson managed an impressive toe-drag catch in an end-of-game scenario after an initial ruling of incompletion was overturned following review. Defensive back Tristin McCollum also contributed with two pass breakups, one occurring during a two-minute drill. Rookie Darius Cooper made a notable diving catch late in practice.

Hurts completed one of his best throws of the day to tight end Dallas Goedert along the sideline. Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson found Harrison Bryant for a last-second touchdown; despite an apparent offensive penalty, officials allowed the score to stand. In response, the offense attempted a two-point conversion that resulted in an interception by Dallas Gant.

After practice, defensive lineman Jordan Davis participated playfully in teammates’ press conferences before taking questions himself.

On the injury front, wide receiver A.J. Brown did not participate due to a hamstring issue but was present on the sidelines. Smith was limited upon returning from his back injury. Other players who did not practice included Zack Baun (back), Lewis Cine (hamstring), Montrell Johnson (hamstring), Trevor Keegan (back), Terrace Marshall (knee), Mac McWilliams (quad), and Ben VanSumeren (ankle). E.J. Jenkins and Nolan Smith returned to practice on a limited basis alongside Smith.

Looking ahead at wide receivers, Brown and Smith are expected leaders while Jahan Dotson is emerging as another key option. The rest of the group remains under evaluation as preseason games and joint practices approach, which will help determine final roster spots for 2025.

“It’s been fun to watch. They’re all different,” Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo said Sunday morning. “All those guys that are competing for those spots in the back end, we’ve got some fast guys, we’ve got some bigger guys. They all bring a different element to the table and so it’s just a matter of getting them in the right position to see them do what they do best. And so, each day there’s a different guy that’s kind of shown up and made a play and done something where we’re like, ‘OK.’

“And I think really what it’s going to come down to is the whole body of work. We’ve got a long way to go, and you don’t realize how many weeks we actually have left until these games and the joint practices will really be critical for those guys, especially to see what they do against other competition.”

Last season Johnny Wilson showed value as both a run-blocker and tall receiving target; Ainias Smith has progressed into his second year and is expected to contribute more starting Thursday against Cincinnati.

Other wide receivers such as Elijah Cooks—who has shown flashes at 6-foot-4—and Avery Williams are vying for roster spots based on consistent performance through preseason action. Terrace Marshall brings experience but remains sidelined with injury concerns.

Rookies Darius Cooper, Giles Jackson, Taylor Morin, and Ife Adeyi aim to make their mark when preseason play begins later this week.

Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio is scheduled to address reporters Monday morning before another round of team practice.
