Eight Penn wrestlers earn podium finishes at Southern Scuffle

The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team concluded its participation in the 2026 Southern Scuffle at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with eight wrestlers reaching the podium. The event took place on Sunday night in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Penn’s top finishers were CJ Composto (141 pounds) and Caden Bellis (174 pounds), who both secured second place in their respective weight classes. Other podium finishes included Evan Mougalian (133), Cross Wasilewski (149), Jude Swisher (157), and Sean Seefeldt (165), each earning third place. Liam Carlin finished fifth at 174 pounds, while Kelly Dunnigan placed eighth at 149 pounds.

The Penn wrestling squad achieved a second-place team finish in its first appearance at the Southern Scuffle, scoring 123.5 points. They finished behind Penn State, which won the tournament with 143.5 points.

Freshmen Caden Bellis and Liam Carlin marked their second collegiate podium appearances this season; Bellis previously placed at the Keystone Classic and Carlin at the Patriot Open.

Mougalian, Swisher, and Wasilewski each went undefeated on Sunday to secure their third-place results.

The Quakers currently hold a 3-0 record for the season and are scheduled to compete next at the F&M Open on Friday, January 9.
