The Philadelphia Eagles announced on Monday that they have waived long snapper Charley Hughlett. Hughlett, who was signed to a one-year contract during the offseason, played as the team’s long snapper for the first four games before being placed on Injured Reserve due to an abdominal injury. He returned to play in the last two games of the season.
Currently, the Eagles do not have another long snapper listed on their active roster or practice squad.
Hughlett joined the team after spending ten seasons with the Cleveland Browns, where he served as a team captain.
During Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills, Hughlett was responsible for snapping on Jake Elliott’s two field goals and extra point attempt. These plays allowed Elliott to become only the second player in Eagles history to surpass 1,000 career points. In that game, punter Braden Mann averaged 55.4 yards across seven punts.
The Eagles are a professional American football team based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They compete in the National Football League and offer entertainment through games, news coverage, ticketing services, and fan engagement initiatives according to their official website. The organization has been part of the NFL since 1933 and draws fans from both local and national communities through its media presence and merchandising efforts.
